We generally want you to refill your prescriptions at the time of your doctor's visit. If you take more than one medicine, it is a good idea to bring all of your medications in a bag with you at each visit. That way we can verify that your medicines are being taken correctly.

We will accept phone calls for refills on your prescriptions only during regular business hours. We are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM for prescription refill requests. It is important that you plan ahead so no delays occur in taking your regularly scheduled medication.

Drop by your refill request to your pharmacist or call the office at least 5 days in advance. Don’t get in a fix, remember to call ahead. Please don't call after business hours for refills.

Once or twice a day we will call the various pharmacies and refill the requests we have received up to that point. Please don't call us to see if the prescription has been called in. Call the pharmacist if you need to.

PRESCRIPTIONS
All Prescriptions need accurate information. Please provide the following information to the secretaries when you call in for prescriptions. It helps us out if you spell out names and medications.

1.Patient’s Name.
2.Medication Name.
3.Medication Dosage
4.How the medication is taken?
5.How much is needed? One month or three months?
6.Name of pharmacy?
7.Contact Phone Number
Call 585-728-2070

Immediate Refills
Please DO NOT call with prescription refills that are needed immediately. We have multiple prescriptions to fill on daily basis and may not get to yours that day. Please call 5 days in advance so that your health is not compromised by a lack of medications.

After Hours
Please DO NOT call with prescription refills. We do not have your medical chart available to us and therefore we cannot verify or record your refills.

3 Month supply
Some insurance companies now require that patients send their scripts away to get lower costs. We would like to help you with this.

We do not have every individual insurance company's forms. We will be happy to send or give them directly to you to send to the company. They normally take 2 weeks to get to you so plan ahead. Most companies will use your local pharmacy for new or short-term (i.e. antibiotics) prescriptions.

Prescription medications need close monitoring for side effects. You should expect to have to come in for regular appointments if you want to continue your medications.

Controlled Prescriptions
Some patients need controlled substances to help with a variety of medical issues. These may include pain medications and other medications to help ADHD.

Some of these medications require that they be written on special New York State prescription pads. Others can be written on normal pads.

1.We will only write out one month at a time. No refills.

2.These medications require that you pick them up personally or they be sent directly to the pharmacy. They cannot be called in to a pharmacy.

Sample Medications: Xanax, Lortab, Ritalin, Ultram, Ambien, and Adderall

Prescription Costs
We understand that prescription medication costs are going up and it is becoming hard for many people to afford the medications they need.

There are some ways to help lower the cost.

1.Many companies request that our patients send their prescriptions to non-local pharmacies. We do not know which do. We suggest you call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask the company representative.

2. Many drugs now come in generic drugs that are just as good as the original brand name drugs and these generics tend to be cheaper. If you need brand name only, please let us know at the time of refills.

3.Insurance companies prefer some drugs to others. Ask us during your visit if there are cheaper drugs that are just as effective or sometimes even cheaper and more effective.

4.Lastly, there are two programs to help those patients over age 65. They are the EPIC and Medicare Part D Prescription Plans. Information on both programs is available at your local pharmacy. And both can be used together.
